Abstract

This article basically revolves around the analysis of the major constraints associated with urbanization and municipalization of a rural setting. Based on firsthand data as collected from
interviews, observation and focused group discussions, eight major constraints have been identified regarding the urbanization and municipalization of Putalibazaar, Syangja. Each of these constraints has been analyzed and elaborated separately in this article. Similarly, it discloses the fact that the attempts of local people and Putalibazaar municipality office have so far not been sufficient to make urbanization effective in the study area. In addition to this, this article reveals that declaration of a rural or semi-urban setting as a municipality doesn’t necessarily foster the process of urbanization in that place.
